Regular Full-Time ($48.01/hour - $52.06/hour – 2024 Rates) Pay Grade 15

Are you an expert in public sector budgeting who enjoys solving complex financial problems? As our new Senior Financial Analyst, you will be the one analyzing budget variances, developing long-term financial forecasts, and advising on project cost-effectiveness. This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for digging into the details, ensuring all financial processes are sound, and preparing the working papers for our auditors. If you're a CPA with a knack for turning complex data into clear, actionable advice, we're looking for your expertise.
Reporting to the Deputy Director of Financial Services, this position involves complex accounting and budgeting work at a professional level. This position advises departments in the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets and reviews submissions for completeness and adherence to policies and regulatory requirements; assists in the development and maintenance of long-term financial plans and related forecasting models; and develops financial and business analyses for various organizational initiatives. Considerable independent judgement and action are exercised in the work.
Our ideal candidate has a minimum of six years of progressive related experience, ideally within the public sector of a unionized environment (or an equivalent combination of education and experience), a professional accounting designation along with membership in good standing with CPA Canada. Experience with Tempest and Vadim software and Power Query would be considered assets. This position is represented by CUPE Local 374.
