Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.
The Manager of Health System Integration is currently seeking a casual Youth Lead for the North Simcow Youth Wellness Hub. The purpose of the position is to support and promote the services, events, and opportunities made available by the NSYWH, as well as other local initiatives and/or services that are aligned with the core values of the NSYWH. Further, the Youth Lead will be a member of the NSYWH integrated governance structure that supports activities to meet the Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario (YWHO) mandates. This role will also complete other tasks as assigned, including supporting programming, advertising and marketing initiatives. The incumbent must reside in North Simcoe.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Co-chair monthly Youth Advisory Committee meetings, acting as the youth voice and representative on the NSYWH governance structure meetings, including the Operations Committee and Steering Committee.
- Provide ongoing mentorship to youth through the use of up-to-date information regarding available services and events, and maintains a presence at the NSYWH through ongoing communication with the Youth Wellness Team (YWT) and partners.
- Provide support to youth wellness initiatives, outreach, group offerings, and calendar of event activities as needed.
- Provide one-off support and/or assignments may also be requested by the Youth Wellness Team (e.g., creating other content or materials such as posters or brochures, interviews for the NSYWH Youth Wellness Team, supporting community events, errand running, etc.).
- Stay up-to-date on services, events, and opportunities available at the NSYWH and broader community, as well as in the lives of local youth (e.g., social media trends, stories, etc.).
- Raise youth voice through identifying barriers, highlighting youth needs, and identifying gaps in service from a youth perspective.
- Bring personal passion and contributing ideas that align and support the work of the NSYWH.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

A valid G Drivers’ License or reliable transportation is required for the role.

The incumbent must reside in North Simcoe, and be able to commit and work a maximum of 16 hours per week on-site at the North Simcoe Youth Wellness Hub, dedicated to hub-related responsibilities.

Flexibility and willingness to attend pre-scheduled events, meetings and occasional offsite community-facing activities outside of hub hours of operation serving as an ambassador for local youth is required.

Able to attend and actively participate in the governance structure meetings, and to work on-site utilizing supplied technology and devices and attend meetings virtually, as needed is required.

Able to demonstrate skills and experience with use of a variety of social media platforms is required.

Results oriented work ethic to work independently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and deliver quality, consistent and timely results

Demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution, interpersonal and organizational skills

Proven written and verbal communication skills
