ABOUT THE ROLE
Queensway Carleton Hospital is seeking an experienced and service-focused Manager, Cybersecurity & Infrastructure for the leadership, planning, and execution of the hospital’s cybersecurity program and core technology infrastructure. This role ensures the availability, integrity, security, and performance of systems that support clinical and corporate operations. The Manager leads a multidisciplinary team supporting network services, cybersecurity operations, endpoint technologies, cloud environments, and disaster recovery. The Manager partners closely with clinical and operational leaders, regional partners, vendors, and cybersecurity supports to deliver secure, resilient, and high-performing digital services aligned with the hospital’s strategic plan, digital strategic plan and cybersecurity roadmap.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and oversee all core IT infrastructure operations, including networks, servers, storage, cloud platforms, wireless systems, data centres, and disaster recovery environments—ensuring high availability, performance, and resiliency for critical clinical systems (EHR, PACS, communications, medical device connectivity).
- Manage the design, deployment, security, and lifecycle of infrastructure technologies, including patching, asset sustainment, vendor oversight, and compliance with cybersecurity controls, uptime standards, and provincial interoperability requirements.
- Act as the escalation point for cybersecurity incidents and coordinate effective response, investigation, communication, and recovery activities with internal and external partners.
- Provide strong people leadership by mentoring and developing a high-performing cybersecurity and infrastructure team, building a culture of accountability, service excellence, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Lead special projects and technology modernization initiatives, including equipment changes, infrastructure upgrades, and RFP/vendor evaluations that align with long-term technical needs and cybersecurity standards.
- Oversee operating and capital budgets for cybersecurity and infrastructure, monitor financial performance, and optimize resource allocation through monthly variance analysis and cost-effective planning.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- University degree in the field of computer science, Information Security, Engineering or related discipline.
- 5–7 years of progressive IT experience, including 2+ years in a leadership capacity.
- Knowledge of ITIL, PHIPA, cybersecurity best practices, and healthcare system integrations.
- Experience with Cisco network configuration/architecture and VMware.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal skills to manage diverse IT professionals and collaborate with clinical and operational stakeholders.
- Experience managing teams, vendors, and technology projects in complex environments.
PREFERRED:
- CISSP, CISM, CISA, CEH, or equivalent.
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- PMP, ITIL, or PROSCI certification.
- Experience with healthcare-specific standards such as HL7/FHIR.
- Previous leadership in a hospital or healthcare setting.
