About the role
We are looking for a**Business Development Representative (BDR)**to play a critical role in building and converting pipeline at Athennian. This role sits at the intersection of marketing and sales, bridging demand generation efforts with revenue outcomes. You will be responsible for identifying high-potential prospects, engaging them through structured, signal-driven outreach and converting that engagement into qualified opportunities for our Account Executives.
Unlike traditional BDR roles focused on volume, this position emphasizes precision: using data, tools and timing to engage the right prospects with the right message. You will work closely with Demand Generation and Revenue Operations to act on high-intent signals, and with Sales to ensure opportunities are well-qualified and positioned for success.
This is an opportunity for a driven, tech-savvy BDR to operate at the leading edge of modern prospecting, leveraging AI, automation and structured workflows to build a repeatable outbound engine. Reporting to the Manager, Sales Engineering & Enablement, you will play a critical role in bridging the gap between our marketing efforts and our sales pipeline.
What you'll do
-**Strategic Lead Qualification:**Engage inbound and outbound leads to assess fit, readiness and opportunity potential. Identify and address gaps in the funnel to ensure high-value prospects are effectively progressed. -**Omnichannel Prospecting & Outbound Execution:**Execute structured, high-volume outbound campaigns across email, phone and LinkedIn. Leverage data, signals and campaign context to prioritize outreach and drive engagement. -**Signal-Based Prospecting & Lead Activation:**Identify and engage prospective customers based on high-intent signals and campaign engagement. Re-engage existing contacts—including prior inbound leads and lost opportunities—to convert interest into active pipeline. -**Pipeline Development & Handoff:**Generate qualified meetings and maintain clear, accurate CRM records to ensure seamless handoff to Account Executives and consistent pipeline progression. -**Cross-Functional Collaboration:**Operate as a key link between Marketing, Revenue Operations and Sales. Align closely on targeting, messaging and outreach strategy while supporting Account Executives in building high-quality pipeline. -**Insight & Feedback Loop:**Provide structured, ongoing feedback to Marketing, Product, Sales and Customer Success on lead quality, messaging effectiveness and prospect pain points to continuously improve go-to-market performance.
Qualifications
-**Experience:**2–3 years of experience in a BDR, SDR or similar role focused on outbound prospecting and pipeline generation. -**Prospecting & Outreach Skills:**Proven ability to execute multi-channel outbound strategies and generate qualified meetings with prospective customers. -**Technical Proficiency:**Experience with CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot), LinkedIn Sales Navigator and modern sales engagement or sequencing tools. Familiarity with platforms such as Instantly or similar, and exposure to tools like Clay, is an asset. -**AI & Workflow Orientation:**Comfort working with AI-enabled tools, automation and structured workflows to improve efficiency and scale outreach efforts. -**Communication Skills:**Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and qualify senior stakeholders effectively. -**Organizational Skills:**Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple workflows, prioritize effectively and maintain attention to detail in CRM and outreach activities. -**Mindset:**Self-motivated, proactive and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrates ownership, adaptability and a focus on outcomes. -**Nice to Have:**Experience selling into SaaS, legal, financial or compliance-related markets.
Location
We have embraced a distributed model of working to reach the best talent in the world. While some roles may require proximity to our Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver offices, roles based outside our office locations can be remote in Canada and the US.
