About the role

Athabasca University's Learning Services Tutorial Department is seeking an Individualized Study Tutor for the following course:

PSYC 228 - Introduction to Human Development: Link to Syllabus

Qualifications and Experience Required: A minimum of a Master's degree required (PhD preferred) in Developmental Psychology.

The successful candidate will have subject matter expertise in lifespan development (biological, cognitive, and socio-emotional development from infancy through late adulthood) and be responsible for providing academic assistance to students, for marking assignments, and for assigning and recording final grades. Teaching experience at a post-secondary level is required. Experience in distance learning and familiarity with digital teaching technologies and online course delivery is preferred. Experience with adult education and Brightspace online course delivery is considered an asset.

Experience supporting students with academic writing in psychology, APA formatting, interpretation of research concepts, and preparation for quizzes, written assignments, and exams is highly desirable. Experience providing constructive, rubric-based feedback on written work is also an asset.

This position requires excellent communication, organizational, administration and online teaching skills. The successful candidate should have demonstrated ability to maintain a high academic standard, maintain accurate student records, and return students' work promptly and within the University's required service standards. The successful candidate should also demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, responsiveness to diverse learner needs, and the ability to explain psychological concepts clearly to students with varied academic backgrounds.

Non-doctoral prepared employees: $243.25 prorated per block.

Doctoral prepared employees: $252.98 prorated per block..
