About the Experiential Learning Hub
The Experiential Learning (EL) Hub is one of six resources within the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching. Through a collaborative approach, the Centre fosters a community dedicated to big thinking about curriculum, pedagogy and creative ways of developing inclusive teaching practices that enrich the student learning experience.
The EL Hub is a gathering place for ideas, knowledge creation, and skill-building. Driven by the values of equity, excellence, collaboration and impact, we support and provide resources for those interested in curating academically relevant experiential learning opportunities. As the primary support for the experiential learning community at Toronto Metropolitan University, we foster a culture of excellence and innovation in teaching, working to continually enhance student learning and community impact.
The opportunity
the priorities of the Experiential Learning (EL) Hub with an equity and community inclusion lens, expanding resources and support available to students, faculty, staff and community/industry partners engaging in various forms of experiential learning.
The successful candidate will:
- Manage the re-development and updating of an educational resource focused on addressing equity, diversity and inclusion for students participating in experiential learning activities.
- Manage internal project partner relationships, day-to-day interactions and communications, and ensure that project collaborators receive information in a timely manner and that their needs are translated into executable project plans.
- Assist in the development of additional resources for learning and teaching, and in the coordination of communication materials to promote projects and initiatives.
- Employ established project management practices and techniques to ensure that project deliverables are achieved on time, within budget and to specifications.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a post-secondary degree, preferably in Social Service, Liberal Arts or Social Services, Digital Media, Writing, Communications, Instructional Design, Project Management or relevant field
- 3+ years managing equity-focused projects, including educational resource development and working with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong understanding of, and ability to embed principles of equity, inclusion and accessibility throughout projects, including in content developed and overall outcomes.
- Strong understanding of best practices and protocols in building partnerships with equity-seeking communities.
- Familiarity with applicable Canadian legislation such as: Human Rights, Health and Safety, Employment Standards and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
- Understanding of different forms of experiential learning and principles that inform the creation of high-impact EL opportunities.
- Knowledge of theory and best practices in learning and teaching in higher education.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills with the ability to create learning materials, write reports, and coordinate communication to stakeholders as necessary.
- Ability to articulate learning and teaching terminology and processes to non-teaching project partners.
- Ability to facilitate meetings with varied stakeholders, including funders, project partners, part-time project staff, students, and staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
