The Community Recreation and Culture Branch is looking for team players that are outgoing, personable, energetic and knowledgeable. We are seeking Essentrics, Yoga and Pilates instructors that have a passion for providing members an amazing experience at the Recreation Centres across the City. If you are a fully qualified instructor and want to share your passion with City of Edmonton patrons, then this is the position for you!
What you will do:
- Plan and instruct exceptional Group Fitness classes that are safe and effective, providing coaching, feedback, modifications, cueing and encouragement
- Provide classes that are progressive, challenging and can adapt to the diverse needs of participants
- Create a fun, welcoming, and motivating environment
- Contribute to the City's Group Fitness Community by communicating in a positive, productive and professional manner
- Substitute classes at various City of Edmonton facilities
- Maintain all mandatory education certifications and attend professional development workshops as needed
- Record class statistics and relay information/feedback about classes to Group Fitness Coordinators
- Understand, and follow all policies, procedures, and standards
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Essentrics: Completion of Essentrics Level 1 certificate or greater required
- Pilates: Completion of a minimum 100 hour Pilates instructor certification is required
- Yoga: Completion of a minimum 200 hour Yoga teacher training is required
- A minimum of 1 year of related experience instructing adults and youth (ages 13+)

- Additional Group Fitness/Exercise Certifications
Skills required for success:
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
- Enthusiasm and energy to keep up with the current fitness trends and get adults motivated and moving
- Ability to safely teach a variety of skill levels within one class

- Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusion
Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Intermediate First Aid, CPR C and AED Certification is required
