Who We Are The Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese (the CISVA) operates 46 schools – 40 elementary and 6 high schools. Our schools are located throughout the Greater Vancouver Area, near the best sites and attractions that Vancouver and British Columbia has to offer. Our footprint extends over 250 kilometers from Powell River in the west to Chilliwack in the east.

Sacred Heart School is seeking a faith-filled Grade 1 Teacher to join our caring and vibrant community beginning March 30, 2026.

Rooted in our Augustinian values of TRUTH, UNITY, and LOVE, Sacred Heart is a place where educators work collaboratively to support each child in becoming the best version of themselves, as God intends. Our supportive and collegial staff work closely together, sharing ideas, encouragement, and expertise to ensure both students and teachers feel valued and supported.

We are looking for an educator who demonstrates strong knowledge of the BC curriculum, enjoys working as part of a team, and is committed to developing the academic, social, physical and spiritual growth of young learners. The successful candidate will value ongoing professional learning, collaboration, and the shared mission of Catholic education.

This is a full-time, short-term position to cover a maternity leave, from March 30, 2026, to June 30, 2026, with the possibility of extension for the 2026–2027 school year.

On an on-going basis, we accept teacher applications for grade levels K to 12 for our Catholic schools throughout the Greater Vancouver Area and Powell River in beautiful British Columbia. All Catholics, non-Catholics, new education grads, and experienced teachers from across Canada are strongly encouraged to apply. Our major hiring season is in April for the following school year, but we recommend that you apply now as we receive an influx of applications.

The Catholic Independent Schools of Vancouver Archdiocese are group one independent schools, receiving 50% operational funding from the ministry of education. All schools teach the prescribed ministry of education curriculum. Teachers are paid according to the qualifications and years of experience. Teachers are also eligible for the Group Benefits Program that provides medical, dental, other extended health benefits, plus a defined contribution (DC) Group Pension Plan.

Teachers interested in making a career with CISVA should apply to the Superintendent's Office. Support staff, including Education Assistants, should apply directly to the individual schools.
