QUALIFICATIONS

Certification/Experience/Knowledge:

  • Minimum of a two (2) year Diploma or Certificate as an Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA), Physiotherapist Assistant (PTA), or a Rehabilitation Assistant is required from an accredited college.
  • Current BCLS required
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in an acute care environment.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of recovery and patient-centered approaches.

  • Demonstrated ability to assist in the development and maintenance of a therapeutic environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to instruct and guide patients through recommended treatment and activity programs both individually and in groups.

  • Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Meditech Expanse and Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook).

  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage routine correspondence, multiple tasks/projects, diversified workload and rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines.

  • Demonstrated discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information.

  • Must demonstrate commitment to ensure personal safety, safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors

  • Ability to support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events required

  • Must demonstrate good attendance

  • Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. The North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is a unique healthcare organization with three primary roles. It provides acute care services to North Bay and its surrounding communities, it is the district referral centre providing specialist services for smaller communities in the area, and it is the specialized mental health service provider serving all of northeast Ontario

NBRHC has 389 beds and numerous outpatient and outreach services in North Bay and throughout the northeast region.

NBRHC is one of four major acute care hospitals serving northeast Ontario; the others being Sault Area Hospital, Timmins and District Hospital and Health Sciences North (Sudbury). The area is also served by small community hospitals like Mattawa and West Nipissing General hospitals.

NBRHC’s Regional Mental Health Services provides inpatient beds in North Bay and Sudbury and outpatient and outreach services that throughout the region—from Hudson Bay to Muskoka from Sault Ste. Marie to the Quebec border.
