We are seeking a Management Systems Engineer (QHSE) to support the continuous improvement, certification, and performance of VSL’s management systems.

Your Mission

As a Management Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Develop, improve and maintain VSL’s QHSE management systems, including procedures, references, registers and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with construction standards, legal requirements, system specifications and quality/health & safety/environmental obligations.
  • Support tender preparation, project management plans (including Q/H&S/E plans), method statements and related submissions.
  • Monitor performance across projects, departments, functions and subcontractors (via audits, inspections, data analysis, KPIs).
  • Lead certification and registration activities, while supporting external audits.
  • Contribute to management system reviews and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Analyse performance data and provide reports to management, advising on corrective actions and opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage non-conformances and incidents, including analysis of root causes and proposals for corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support training activities and help improve awareness and implementation of QHSE procedures across the organisation.

Profile Sought

Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in construction activities and QHSE/quality assurance.
  • Strong background in management system development, auditing, monitoring and certification.
  • Demonstrated experience challenging poor performance and supporting continuous improvement.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Excellent knowledge of construction activities, systems, specifications, requirements and associated risks.
  • Strong understanding of legal requirements related to QHSE.
  • Effective auditing skills, including root cause analysis and the ability to recommend practical solutions.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • Well-organised with strong administration abilities.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or within a team depending on project needs.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels and influence behaviours to improve safety, quality, and environmental performance.

Other Requirements

  • University degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Willingness to travel to site locations depending on project requirements.
