MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Member of a Telesat LEO SW Development team to optimize the software test strategy , test process, and test cases to support the various features of the LightSpeed system. The focus is testing advanced satellite OBP segment software, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability, and interworking with other segments.
- Defining Test Strategies: They develop overall testing strategies, considering the project's requirements, the criticality assigned to the software, and the available resources.
- Managing Test Resources: help manage the organic development of the test framework on an ongoing basis to help the test campaign progress, whether on simulated resources or the hardware.
- Ensuring Test Documentation: ensure across teams that all testing activities are properly documented, including test cases, test results, test steps and analysis reports.
- Collaboration : The successful candidate is an incredible collaborator with other functional teams across segments, including developers, requirements engineers, management, DevOps, scrum masters and product owners. Hands on testing expected in the LEO Lab and in simulation for various data path and routing features.
- Demonstrated ability to align different teams with disparate interests into a single approach
- Ensure test cases maximize code coverage and that the software under test meets technical and functional requirements. This must be driven at the Lightspeed system level.
- Architect software solutions that adhere to Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles and utilize simulated software to rigorously test code functionality.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in satellite technology and industry trends, driving innovation and maintaining technical excellence.
- Guide the team in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues, ensuring the stability and reliability of OBP segment software.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Utilize expertise in cloud technology, virtualization, and containerization to optimize test deployment and management.
- Leverage software modeling tools to create robust and efficient testing architectures.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, helping to evolve development processes, tools, and methodologies.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of experience with hands on testing with various technologies, with a minimum of 4 years of experience in software test development for embedded software platforms as an architect
- Direct experience for large system test strategies and implementation that spans a large development organization
Specialized Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems). Must have passion for simulated software testing frameworks and getting the most of them with CI/CD
- Familiar with formal software testing approaches (requirements analysis, test case definition, test script development, test data review, etc.)
- Strong experience and knowledge of Python and python-based automation frameworks, such as Pytest, or Slash. Ideally a working knowledge of C++ (preferred experience in C++ embedded development strong networking knowledge), experience with Git and/or similar version control systems. Experience with cloud technology, virtualization, and containerization. Experience with test management platforms, particularly Zephyr Scale.
- Understanding of satellite technology, ground segment operations, and associated challenges.
- Excellent understanding of networking and routing protocols
- Strong problem-solving skills, capable of addressing intricate technical challenges that cross team boundaries
- Excellent communication skills and influence across an organization, to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and simulated software testing methodologies
- Ability to design automation software systems with consideration for hardware resource constraints.

DECISION MAKING & SUPERVISION
- This is an Individual contributor role but as a Test architect, the successful candidate will be responsible for making key technical decisions and specifically exercising influence across the organization

- This role requires presence in the office Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
- Working conditions are comfortable, typical of an office environment.
- International travel may be required.
