About the role
The Staff Quality Engineer – Performance Engineering & QE Tools Administration is a senior technical leader responsible for defining, executing, and governing enterprise‑grade performance engineering strategy while also owning administration, and maintenance of core QE tooling across portfolios.
This role operates at both Practice and Portfolio / SME levels—driving non‑functional quality standards, enabling delivery teams, influencing architecture and design decisions, and ensuring QE platforms (qTest, BlazeMeter, Sauce Labs) are stable, scalable, cost‑effective, and well‑governed.
The Staff QE is a hands‑on expert, coach, and steward of quality, ensuring performance, reliability, and observability are built in early and continuously across the SDLC.
What you'll do
Performance Engineering
- Define and evolve enterprise performance engineering standards, frameworks, and reference architectures
- Contribute to QE Practice strategy, roadmaps, and tooling decisions
- Lead performance test strategy, scoping, and impact analysis for complex digital initiatives across various projects and platforms
- Define and execute non‑functional test models including: Load, Stress, Endurance, Spike, Scalability, Volume, and Failover testing
- Actively participate in architecture, design, and non‑functional requirement reviews, ensuring performance, scalability, and resiliency are addressed early
- Analyze performance results against SLAs, SLOs, and benchmarks, providing actionable tuning and optimization recommendations
- Integrate performance testing and monitoring into CI/CD pipelines, enabling continuous performance feedback
- Serve as a performance SME for delivery teams, advising on capacity planning, scaling strategies, and release readiness
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across non‑functional testing, tooling, and reporting
- Mentor and coach Senior and Lead QEs, raising the overall quality and performance engineering maturity
- Influence cross‑portfolio alignment on quality metrics, KPIs, and governance models
QE Tools Administration & Enablement
- Own administration, configuration, and governance of enterprise QE tools including: qTest, BlazeMeter & Sauce Labs
- Define and maintain tool usage standards, access models, naming conventions, and best practices
- Manage user onboarding, role‑based access, licensing optimization, and cost controls for QE platforms
- Partner with vendors and internal platform teams to resolve tool issues, plan upgrades, and evaluate new features and capabilities
- Establish enterprise dashboards and reporting to provide visibility into quality, coverage, execution health, and performance trends
- Act as the single point of accountability for QE tool health, stability, and adoption across portfolios
What you bring
- 15+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, with deep specialization in performance engineering
- Proven experience in digital performance testing (Web, Mobile Web, Native Mobile Apps)
- Strong understanding of cloud‑based architectures and performance testing in distributed systems
- Hands‑on experience with APM and observability tools (Dynatrace, New Relic)
- Working knowledge of at least one programming/scripting language (Java, JavaScript, Python, C#, etc.)
- Experience with logging platforms (ELK, Splunk, Sumo Logic)
- Demonstrated ability to operate as a technical leader, influencer, and mentor

Our typical hiring range is between $90,000.00 to $131,000.00 per annum. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, job-related knowledge, skills and competencies, market location, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements.
