Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Development, the Project Analyst is a key member of Atura Power’s multi‑technology growth and development team. The business development group advances opportunities in gas generation, solar, wind, battery storage, and hydrogen, supporting Atura’s long‑term growth and competitive positioning.

This role provides analytical, strategic, and project management support across the full development lifecycle, including market intelligence, techno‑economic evaluation, financial modelling, due diligence, reporting, and risk assessment. The Project Analyst partners closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Analysts, and functional groups across Commercial, Operations, Indigenous Relations, Environmental, Finance, and other internal and external business groups.

Success in this role depends on strong analytical capability, sound judgment, structured communication, and the ability to synthesize complex technical, commercial, and regulatory inputs into clear recommendations for business development leadership.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Market Intelligence & Competitive Insights

  • Lead market intelligence gathering across gas, solar, wind, BESS, and clean‑fuel sectors, including tracking policy changes, competitive positioning, procurement timelines, and technology trends.

  • Monitor competitor pipelines, land strategies, bid behaviours, and publicly available project filings to inform Atura’s site origination and bidding strategy.

  • Translate complex market data into actionable insights for BD leadership.

Data Synthesis & Reporting

  • Collect, structure, and synthesize large datasets from engineering, commercial, environmental, and operations sources into decision‑ready summaries and dashboards.

  • Prepare high‑quality reporting for senior leadership, Board updates, and governance committees, including market summaries, project comparisons, and financial insights.

  • Support development of recurring BD reporting frameworks, including KPIs, progress trackers, and analytics tools.

Techno‑Economic Modelling

  • Build and maintain techno‑economic (discounted cash flow) models for multi‑technology development options (gas, wind, solar, BESS), integrating production modelling, costs, interconnection factors, and revenue forecasts.

  • Conduct scenario analyses, sensitivities, and economic comparisons to guide project prioritization and proposal strategy.

  • Support development of inputs for early‑stage DCF analyses, working with senior analysts to refine assumptions and results.

Technology Due Diligence & Feasibility Assessments

  • Perform technology due diligence on OEM solutions, technology maturity, performance assumptions, degradation rates, and supply‑chain considerations.

  • Support feasibility assessments using GIS tools, engineering inputs, resource data, land characteristics, and environmental considerations.

  • Review consultant studies, engineering packages, interconnection information, and technical reports to validate assumptions used in BD modelling.

Risk Evaluation & Project Screening

  • Conduct comprehensive risk evaluations across permitting, grid constraints, environmental, technical, commercial, and schedule domains.

  • Maintain structured risk registers, clearly communicating material issues and recommending mitigation strategies.

  • Contribute risk‑adjusted insights into BCS packages, site prioritization frameworks, and BD strategy reviews.

Partnership & Equity Participation Assessments

  • Support analysis of partnership structures, equity participation pathways, and economic modelling associated with shared ownership arrangements.

  • Assist in evaluating development partners, joint ventures, and acquisition candidates through technical, commercial, and financial due diligence.

  • Prepare partnership briefings, valuation summaries, and comparative assessments for internal approval processes.

Project Documentation, Coordination & Governance

  • Contribute inputs into Business Case Summaries (BCS), ensuring modelling, risks, assumptions, and supporting evidence are complete and accurate.

  • Maintain structured project documentation including action logs, schedules, risk registers, assumptions books, and version control.

  • Support cross‑functional stakeholders (Engineering, Environmental, Operations, Indigenous Relations, Finance) in assembling project development deliverables.

  • Organize and support internal reviews, steering committees, and governance checkpoints.

Proposal & Bid Development Support

  • Support preparation of bid submission materials: technical summaries, economic inputs, risk assessments, competitor intelligence, site assessments, and scoring analyses.

  • Coordinate internal review cycles, ensuring alignment across engineering, commercial, permitting, Indigenous engagement, and finance teams.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in business development, project analysis, financial modelling, energy markets, engineering economics, or related analytical roles (energy or infrastructure preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to integrate technical, commercial, and regulatory data into clear insights.
  • Proficiency in Excel (advanced preferred), PowerPoint, Word, and report development.
  • Experience preparing data‑driven reports, dashboards, and structured analyses for leadership audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work independently, and handle ambiguity in a fast‑paced development environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex subjects for diverse audiences.

Preferred

  • Experience in renewable or conventional power development (solar, wind, BESS, gas, hydrogen).

  • Knowledge of techno‑economic modelling, DCF concepts, and early‑stage project valuation.

  • Familiarity with GIS tools for site screening and analysis.

  • Experience with regulatory, permitting, environmental review, or interconnection processes.

  • Exposure to partnership modelling (including equity arrangements), acquisition due diligence, or commercial structuring.

  • Certificates such as CFA Level 1, PMP‑in‑progress, CEM, or related technical credentials.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Environmental Studies, Energy Systems, or similar technical/commercial discipline.

  • 4–8 years of progressive analytical experience in energy, utilities, infrastructure, or related sectors.

Additional Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel occasionally for meetings, site visits, or engagement sessions.
