About the role

Paterson Grain is currently seeking a highly dependable, detail-oriented professional to fill the role of Accounting Clerk. In addition to providing administrative and accounting support, the successful candidate will manage numerous day-to-day accounting activities. This position is ideally suited for individuals who are well organized, have excellent time management skills and can maintain a high level of performance while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Post and analyze month-end accounting entries.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Support operations with various related requests.
  • Check, verify and process invoices.
  • Sort, code, and enter accounts payable data.
  • Analyze discrepancies and unpaid invoices.
  • Reconcile and monitor bank statements, handle cheques, and deposits.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
  • Preparation of government remittances and other regulatory reporting.
  • Perform filing and general administrative tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Accounting Diploma and/or prior experience in an accounting environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of team.
  • Accounting experience in a high-volume environment considered an asset.
  • Experience working in accounting software such as Great Plains is considered an asset.
