The opportunity:

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Market Development & Strategic Growth, to lead initiatives that expand our impact, identify new markets, and build strong partnerships with industrial and commercial clients. This is a key role that combines entrepreneurial leadership, strategic thinking, and a customer-centric approach.

    • Lead business development initiatives to expand energy management services to new and existing clients.
    • Identify and engage prospective clients, partners, and stakeholders to drive growth and impact.
    • Develop data-driven value propositions tailored to diverse client needs.
    • Build and manage a pipeline from early prospecting to closing and onboarding.
    • Collaborate across teams—including delivery, engineering, marketing, and regulatory—to align client needs with program execution.
    • Represent EfficiencyOne at industry events and in client meetings.
    • Contribute to go-to-market strategies, delivery models, and customer engagement materials.
    • Lead preparation of business cases, funding proposals, and stakeholder briefings.
    • Use a test-and-learn approach to validate assumptions, refine strategies, and drive continuous improvement.
    • Track and report on business development metrics to optimize future initiatives.

What Will Help You Succeed?

    • 7–10+ years in business development, strategic partnerships, or commercialization, ideally in:

o Industrial services, equipment, or cleantech

o Consulting or solution sales in a technical field

o Energy efficiency, demand response, or energy services

    • Proven success in driving market growth and securing new business.
    • Experience in value proposition development, early-stage business model testing, and multi-stakeholder engagement.
    • Skilled in partnership development with technology providers, municipalities, Indigenous organizations, or industry associations.
    • Comfortable working with cross-functional teams to achieve business outcomes.
    • Strong understanding of energy management principles and energy-intensive industries.
    • Entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable with ambiguity, and capable of influencing senior stakeholders.
    • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and strategic thinking skills.
    • Strong financial acumen, including experience building business cases and ROI-driven proposals.
    • Experience in new market development or export-oriented sales is a plus.

Education & Certification(s) Requirements:

Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical), Environmental Science, Economics, or a related field.

Preferred:

    • Relevant master’s degree (especially if less experience in energy or industrial B2B sales).
    • Specialized certifications in energy management, sustainability, or cleantech are an asset.
