Cooper Equipment Rentals is seeking a Regional Safety Trainer to support safety excellence across the Northern ON Region.
This role is responsible for delivering clear, practical, and regulation-aligned safety training to both customers and employees. The Safety Trainer plays a key role in promoting safe equipment use, strengthening safety culture, and ensuring training programs are engaging, effective, and easy to understand.
What You’ll Be Doing
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver equipment operator training to internal employees and external customers (Working at Heights, forklift, aerial work platforms, etc.) across Northern Ontario.
- Lead classroom and hands-on training sessions, including demonstrations, evaluations, and testing of safe equipment operation.
- Prepare and deliver structured, engaging training tailored to different experience levels and learning styles.
- Monitor training effectiveness, gather feedback, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate training records and ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
- Manage training schedules, materials, and equipment to ensure sessions run smoothly.
- Build strong relationships with customers and internal teams through professional, high-quality training delivery.
- Support business growth by identifying new customer training opportunities.
- Travel regularly within Northern Ontario, and support occasional after-hours training requirements as needed.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience delivering technical training, with the ability to develop engaging lesson plans, assess learner needs, and deliver structured learning experiences.
- Certified instructor for Working at Heights, forklift, aerial work platforms, or similar programs is an asset.
- Post-secondary education or certification in Health & Safety, and/or train-the-trainer certification is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and build trust with both customers and internal teams.
- Thorough knowledge of health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in construction and/or equipment environments.
- Confident facilitator with strong presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage schedules, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Customer-focused with a proactive, results-driven approach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Valid Class G driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract (no more than 3 demerit points).
- Willingness to travel within the region.
