The Associate Designer, Pension Communications will be responsible for executing the visual identity of Pensions within the OMERS brand. This role will be working and collaborating with a variety of groups within Pensions and OMERS to develop holistic design strategies that drive Pensions awareness, support audience education and enhance the digital and print experiences of our members and other key stakeholders.

The Associate Designer, Pension Communications will report to the Manager, Pension Communications and work closely with the Design team.

Responsibilities

  • Support and execute Pensions communications strategies and solutions involving OMERS website (members.omers.com), email and newsletter campaigns, and social media platforms with the goal of enhancing user experience and engagement while balancing business objectives with audience needs
  • Work collaboratively with internal partners to drive awareness, education and engagement among OMERS key audience groups, including members, employers and other stakeholders
  • Provide design support to internal teams in Pensions, often in the form of PowerPoint presentations and PDFs
  • Present insight-driven designs and concepts for Pensions materials internally, including for annual statements, quarterly reports, Employer Education Week, and pension education and training materials
  • Liaise with teams across Pensions and the wider enterprise to ensure deadlines are met on coordinated projects
  • Ensure the Pensions identity is cohesive and consistent throughout various print, digital and social media communications projects by adhering to our brand guidelines
  • Evaluate emerging trends and technologies in design and content production, and provide guidance on adoption where appropriate

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of work-related experience
  • University or college degree/diploma in Graphic Design
  • Expert knowledge in Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Expert knowledge with current Adobe applications (ID, AI, PS, Acrobat)
  • Comfortable using content management systems (e.g., Contentful) to design and lay out quarterly newsletter webpages
  • Working knowledge in MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
  • Prepress and print production experience a bonus
  • Experience in pensions is an asset

Division of work

  • 30% - Design presentations for internal and external stakeholder engagement
  • 20% - Design operations materials (annual statements, employer guides, forms, etc.)
  • 15% - Lead the design of external newsletters (member, employer and sponsor/stakeholder)
  • 15% - Design graphics and materials for external campaigns (emails, events, etc.)
  • 10% - Design digital graphic elements (websites, social media, etc.)
  • 10% - Design graphics and materials for internal communications (SharePoint, town halls, etc.)
