What You’ll Do The Domain Architect, Customer Portfolio is a critical role focused on the architectural design and strategic evolution of customer-centric systems. This includes Meter-to-Cash (M2C) platforms, customer engagement systems, and other technologies that enhance customer experience and drive operational excellence. The role is designed to ensure that technology initiatives align with organizational goals, enterprise architecture standards, and industry best practices.
This is a matrixed role with day-to-day leadership and formal reporting aligned to Product Management, and architectural direction provided through close partnership with Enterprise Architecture. The Domain Architect will lead the development of architectural strategies for the customer domain while ensuring seamless integration and alignment across enterprise systems.
- Lead the development, design and maintenance of target state architecture for the Customer Portfolio, Meter-to-Cash, and Customer Experience domains.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards, strategic goals, and regulatory compliance.
- Identify opportunities for technology modernization, including cloud adoption, enhanced integration, and system scalability.
- Embed architectural thinking into delivery: Partner with delivery and product teams to translate business needs into scalable, modern, and pragmatic solutions.
- Collaborate with product managers, business leads, and technical teams to define solution architecture for enhancements and initiatives.
- Define and document integration patterns and data flow designs between core systems.
- Oversee the domain architecture lifecycle, including strategy, design, transition, and optimization phases.
- Map business capabilities to systems and technologies within the domain to identify gaps and opportunities.
- Participate in architecture reviews, helping ensure adherence to security, compliance, and interoperability standards.
- Document current state systems and identify opportunities for modernization, automation, and process improvement.
- Familiar with EA modeling tools (e.g., Avolution ABACUS) to document architectures and ensure traceability across layers.
- Apply architectural principles related to security (RBAC, SoD), data governance, and cloud adoption.
- Contribute to or lead evaluation of new tools, modules, or platforms introduced within the Customer portfolio system landscape.
- Work with delivery teams and business analysts to provide architectural input during planning and execution phases.
- Participate in cross-functional working groups and contribute to architectural maturity across the product pillar.
- Contribute to initiatives that modernize legacy platforms, improve scalability, and simplify the Customer Portfolio technology landscape.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Who You Are Education & Specialized Knowledge Education & Specialized Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- Working toward or interest in certification (e.g., TOGAF, PMP, AWS, Azure) is an asset.
- Solid understanding of enterprise applications and integration patterns, with an ability to lead domain-level architecture.
- Familiarity with concepts in cloud platforms, data architecture, and security design.
- Strong understanding and exposure to Customer Portfolio functions and systems such as AMI, MDM, CC&B, CRM, CX, etc.
- Experience with architectural documentation and diagramming tools (e.g., Visio, Lucid chart, ArchiMate) preferred.
Experience
- 4-6 years of experience in IT solution delivery, business systems analysis, or enterprise systems, with exposure to Customer Portfolio systems.
- Strong expertise in Meter-to-Cash processes, customer engagement platforms, and utility operations.
- Proven track record of delivering customer-centric solutions in complex technical environments.
- Experience working on projects involving enterprise systems or multi-team delivery is preferred.
- Exposure to architecture principles and system road mapping is an asset.

- Clear communicator, able to translate between technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Ability to work with senior architects while building toward domain-level ownership and architectural leadership.

- Must hold and maintain a valid class “G” driver’s license
