About the role
We are currently seeking an experienced and skilled journeyman mechanic to join our team. The Tunneling Company offers a range of fit-to-purpose tunneling solutions, including guided boring, down-the-hole hammer, auger boring, pipe ramming, microtunneling, and more. We manage the entire process from pre-planning and design through to construction.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform all pre-start inspections, start- up procedures, daily operation, and routine system maintenance procedures.
- Repair and adjust engine diagnostics, brakes, suspension, hydraulic pumps, safety valves, and any other necessary mechanical components.
- Inspect, repair, and adjust gasoline and diesel-powered units.
- Diagnose defects in heavy duty equipment, repair cooling, and lubrication system
- Install and align engines and machinery
- Repair mechanical transmissions, drivetrains, and final drives
- Repair cable-operated working attachments, winches, compressors, pumps, electric generators, etc.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround time, and streamline work processes.
- Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop and occasionally off site when required
- Complete accurate work orders in a timely fashion
- Test and inspect equipment to ensure repairs are completed to manufactures' specifications and government standards.
- Maintain organized and detailed maintenance reports and documentation
- Maintain good working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques
- Perform regular maintenance and repairs on tunneling machinery and equipment, including but not limited to Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM), jacking frames, power packs, compressors, generators, and other trenchless machinery.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment problems and identify the root cause of mechanical and electrical issues.
- Repair and replace malfunctioning parts, such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other mechanical and electrical components.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
- Perform other duties as required.
Experience and Training Requirements
- 5+ years as a red seal journeyman mechanic
- Valid class 1 drivers license
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job (lifting, bending, standing for long periods)
- $54.00/hour
