As a n Intermediate Financial Analyst within Finning’s FP&A team, you’ll be at the heart of strategic financial planning and performance management. Job Description:
About the Role:
As a Financial Analyst within the FP&A team at Finning, you will play a key role in supporting strategic financial decision-making through detailed analysis, reporting, and forecasting.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Financial Reporting & Insights:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with high accuracy.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide clear, insightful commentary.
- Support the development of executive-level presentations.
- Forecasting & Budgeting:
- Collaborate with business units to build and maintain financial models.
- Assist in annual budgeting and rolling forecasts aligned with strategic goals.
- Strategic Analysis & Business Support:
- Perform ad hoc analysis to evaluate business initiatives and investment opportunities.
- Recommend actions to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
- Data Integrity & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external standards (e.g., IFRS).
- Conduct peer reviews and maintain high data quality standards.
- Tools & Technology:
- Leverage Advance Excel and financial systems (e.g INFOR/M3, BPC/AFO, DBS, OneStream, SAP) for reporting and analysis.
- Continuously improve reporting tools and processes
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with regional finance teams and operational stakeholders.
- Communicate complex financial concepts in a clear, actionable manner.
Specific Skills:
- Analytical Thinking – Strong ability to interpret data and identify trends.
- Attention to Detail – High accuracy in reporting and data validation.
- Organizational Skills – Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Communication Skills – Clear and effective communication with both financial and non-financial audiences.
- Problem-Solving – Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Collaboration – Strong interpersonal skills and team-oriented mindset.
- Technical Proficiency – Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, formulas); experience with ERP systems and EPM solutions to support analysis & reporting).
- Business Acumen – Understanding of financial principles and their impact on business decisions.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- CPA, CFA, or progress toward designation is an asset
- 2+ years of experience in an analytical role in FP&A or Accounting
- Experience in a large, complex organization preferred
