Position Summary

The Supply Chain Manager leads and manages all supply chain operations supporting aircraft manufacturing at Diamond Aircraft Industries Canada, including Purchasing, Production Planning, Warehouse, Shipping & Receiving, and Stores.

The role ensures the reliable, cost-effective, and compliant flow of materials required to meet production schedules and operational priorities. The Supply Chain Manager oversees supplier performance, materials planning, inventory management, and logistics operations while ensuring compliance with Transport Canada regulations and AS9100 quality standards.

A key responsibility is ensuring disciplined and effective use of the company’s ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics NAV / Business Central) to support production planning, procurement, inventory control, and supply chain visibility. The position works closely with Production, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Finance to maintain system data integrity and alignment between production schedules and material availability.

Key Responsibilities

Supply Chain Leadership

  • Lead all supply chain functions including Purchasing, Production Planning, Warehouse, Shipping & Receiving, and Stores.
  • Ensure timely material availability to support aircraft production schedules.
  • Establish and monitor supply chain KPIs including supplier performance, inventory turnover, material availability, and cost control.
  • Drive operational discipline and continuous improvement across supply chain operations.

ERP and Systems Management

  • Ensure effective use of the ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics NAV / Business Central) across all supply chain activities.
  • Maintain integrity of system data including material masters, bills of materials, planning parameters, lead times, and inventory transactions.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP functionality to support production planning, procurement, and inventory management.

Supplier Management and Procurement

  • Develop and manage strategic supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply of materials and components.
  • Negotiate pricing and supply agreements to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Monitor supplier performance and collaborate with Quality Assurance on supplier qualification, audits, and corrective actions.

Production Planning and Logistics

  • Oversee production planning and materials requirements planning aligned with manufacturing schedules.
  • Manage inventory levels to balance operational needs with working capital objectives.
  • Oversee warehouse operations, shipping and receiving, and inventory control.
  • Manage domestic and international logistics, including freight coordination and customs compliance.

Compliance and Collaboration

  • Ensure supply chain operations comply with Transport Canada regulations, AS9100 standards, and internal quality systems.
  • Support internal and external audits related to supply chain processes.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Finance on production planning, engineering changes, and operational priorities.
  • Provide supply chain performance updates to senior leadership.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Supply Chain team.
  • Establish clear accountability, performance expectations, and operational discipline within the department.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional supply chain certification (SCMP, CPIM, CSCP) considered an asset.

Experience

  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience, including department-level management responsibility, in supply chain, procurement, or materials management.
  • Experience in aerospace, aviation, or complex manufacturing environments strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience operating in ERP/MRP-driven manufacturing environments.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong proficiency with ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics NAV or Business Central experience highly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of production planning, procurement, inventory control, and logistics operations.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems and aerospace regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and Incoterms.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Working Conditions

  • Office and manufacturing environment within an aerospace production facility.
  • Occasional travel for supplier visits or industry meetings may be required.
