The Provincial Comptroller's Office, Internal Audit Branch of the Ministry of Finance is seeking a highly skilled, motivated, innovative and results-oriented internal audit professional to plan and conduct risk-based internal audits on various executive government programs, financial systems and management processes.
Working independently and in teams, you will develop, plan and conduct risk assessments and audits; establish audit objectives; evaluate the effectiveness of internal control systems; and, draft audit reports. Your work assignments will include reviews of various financial processes throughout executive government in order to determine the adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of existing procedures. You will identify and negotiate practical solutions for any control or administrative deficiencies detected, participate in providing advice to management on designing, implementing and maintaining appropriate internal controls.
To meet the challenges and be successful in this position you must have a thorough understanding of the standards, procedures and techniques for performing internal audits. You must also have excellent oral, written and listening communication skills; planning and organizational skills; strong analytical and practical problem-solving skills; and a proven ability to consistently deliver high quality results and meet assigned deadlines.
To qualify for this position, you will be a critical thinker and possess a Chartered Professional Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor designation, and you must have progressively responsible experience in internal and/or external audits. Additional designations such as a Certified Information Systems Auditor or Certified Fraud Examiner would be an asset. Experience with applying data analysis techniques and the use of ACL Data Analytics software and/or other data analytics software; the MIDAS (Oracle) Financials and/or HR/Payroll system; and completing risk assessments and audits in the public sector would be considered an asset.
