About the role

About the Client

Our client is a profitable and growing industrial manufacturing company specializing in configured-to-order engineered equipment, with approximately 90% of operations focused on CTO manufacturing.

The company is currently experiencing strong international growth and is entering a new phase focused on operational systemization, scalable processes, and distribution expansion.

They are seeking a Director of Finance & Revenue Operations to build and strengthen the operational and financial infrastructure required to improve margin visibility, cost control, forecasting accuracy, and decision-making speed across the organization.

Role Mission

The successful candidate will help establish a finance and operational framework where:

  • Job profitability is transparent and measurable from quote to actual results
  • Manufacturing and engineering efforts are properly planned, monitored, and controlled
  • Tax compliance and reporting processes remain accurate and audit-ready
  • Departmental budgets are actively managed and controlled
  • Forecasting becomes dependable and proactive
  • ERP selection and implementation are executed successfully with strong operational adoption

Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial & Operational Control

  • Lead job costing and margin analysis initiatives, including quote-to-actual reporting, margin bridge analysis, and root-cause visibility
  • Analyze factors impacting profitability including engineering hours, redesigns, rework, expediting, subcontracting, purchasing variances, and schedule changes
  • Implement accountability systems for engineering costs, including mandatory weekly time tracking tied to job codes
  • Establish KPIs and structured change-control processes linked to cost and schedule impacts

Revenue Operations & Forecasting

  • Improve revenue operations discipline through enhanced milestone billing visibility, backlog and WIP reporting, pricing controls, and cash flow timing management
  • Deliver rolling forecasts covering revenue, cash flow, margins, deposits, and project milestones
  • Build proactive forecasting processes that leadership can rely on for decision-making

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure all reporting submitted to provincial and federal authorities is accurate, timely, and audit-ready
  • Act as a key liaison between financial operations, external accounting partners, and regulatory bodies
  • Lead monthly close activities and develop quarterly management reporting packages that support strategic decision-making
  • Oversee grant tracking, spending visibility, and audit-compliant reporting practices

ERP & Systems Leadership

  • Lead ERP evaluation, selection, and implementation initiatives across the business
  • Define operational requirements related to job costing, WIP tracking, inventory management, purchasing, billing, and reporting
  • Manage phased ERP rollout plans while ensuring operational alignment and adoption across departments
  • Potential future involvement in IT systems and vendor governance initiatives

What Success Looks Like (Within 6–12 Months)

  • Quote-to-actual margin reporting is implemented across the majority of projects
  • Cost accountability becomes system-driven rather than dependent on executive oversight
  • Forecasting processes become accurate, proactive, and reliable
  • ERP selection is completed and implementation is underway or Phase 1 has been successfully launched

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands-on finance and operations professional with experience in manufacturing, engineered products, job-shop environments, or configured-to-order operations.

They possess strong management accounting capabilities, particularly in:

  • Job costing
  • Work-in-progress (WIP) management
  • Margin analysis
  • Operational KPI development

You are comfortable working cross-functionally and driving operational adoption across teams.

The client is looking for someone practical, direct, low-ego, execution-focused, and comfortable building systems and structure from the ground up.

Requirements

  • Proven experience within manufacturing, engineered products, configured-to-order, or industrial environments

  • Strong background in management accounting, operational finance, and revenue operations

  • Experience with job costing, WIP reporting, forecasting, and operational KPI management

  • Experience leading ERP selection and implementation projects is highly preferred

  • Strong cross-functional leadership and operational influence capabilities

  • Ability to build scalable systems, processes, and reporting structures

Benefits

Competitive compensation package with target base salary around $130,000 (flexible depending on experience and scope)

Performance-based bonus tied to measurable business outcomes including:

  • Margin improvement
  • Reporting reliability
  • ERP implementation milestones
  • Cash flow and working capital optimization
