The Position:

Our Asset Management Business Unit is growing. We are seeking an Accounting Analyst with upstream Oil and Gas experience to act in an Accounts Payable and Payments Accountant capacity for our clients, with opportunities to advance as the Division grows. The Accounting Analyst is responsible for managing all aspects of our client’s accounts payable processes and ensuring accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices, expense reports, and payment disbursements. This role supports clients financial operations by maintaining vendor records, reconciling statements, and ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, possess strong self-starter skills, an ability to build relationships with multiple departments and clients, while ensuring financial processes and internal controls are being followed for coding and approvals. This role is offered as either Full-Time or Part-Time, depending on the candidate’s availability and interest.

Our Asset Management Business Unit manages the engineering, production operations, liability closures, accounting, land HS&A and regulatory oversight of junior to mid-sized E&P companies ranging from 100 to 6,000 BOE per day. With over 20 accounting professionals, we provide full cycle oil and gas finance services to clients including production accounting, joint venture, AR/AP, financial reporting, tax, controllership and CFO duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and verify invoices and expense reports for accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure timely payment of vendor invoices via check, electronic transfer, or other payment methods.
  • Maintain vendor records including contact information, payment terms, and tax information.
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions and vendor statements to resolve discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors to resolve billing and payment issues.
  • Prepare accounts payable reports and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to accounts payable.
  • Assist with audits related to accounts payable activities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for accounts payable processes.
  • Maintain documentation and filing systems related to accounts payable transactions.

Education & Experience:

  • Diploma (or degree) in Accounting, Finance, or related field ‘preferred’.
  • Proven experience as an accounts payable accountant or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable processes, principles, and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Pandell JV/AP, Qbyte, Open Invoice) and MS Office (Excel).
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and accounting standards.

Non-Technical Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on fostering and sustaining client partnerships.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize work according to client needs
  • Ability to work accurately with attention to detail and meet deadlines.
  • Strong multitasking skills with the ability to support several clients concurrently.
  • Understanding of oil and gas upstream accounting systems, terminology and accounting.
  • Basic knowledge of general accounting and financial reporting.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
