We are looking to add a Service Technician to our Calgary team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, self-motivated professional who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and is committed to delivering excellent customer service.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform field start-ups, troubleshooting, and commissioning of mechanical/HVAC equipment
- Carry out mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance within the assigned territory
- Dismantle, repair, and reassemble mechanical equipment
- Conduct energy audits and identify optimization opportunities
- Work independently while managing priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, control schematics, and electrical diagrams
- Assess site conditions, identify issues, coordinate materials, and support installation and repair work
- Communicate effectively with contractors, customers, electricians, and other trades
- Maintain assigned inventory and company equipment
- Complete all required documentation (time sheets, service reports, job progress)
- Provide training and follow-up support at customer sites
- Stay up to date on products, systems, and industry developments
- Work with third-party equipment and controls, including BACnet, Modbus, and other building automation systems
Requirements:
- Diploma (or equivalent) from a technical program, or 1–2 years of relevant experience in controls/building automation systems (or equivalent combination)
- Basic knowledge of HVAC systems and fundamentals
- Experience with start-up and commissioning of HVAC equipment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Comfortable working at heights and using ladders
- Willingness to travel as required
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license (minimum 12 months) with a clean driving record
This role involves working in a variety of environments, including mechanical rooms with operating equipment, exposure to noise, outdoor weather conditions, and occasional work in elevated or confined spaces. There is also potential exposure to high-voltage equipment.
This is a physically demanding position requiring regular use of hands and mobility (walking, bending, kneeling). The role involves lifting up to 10 lbs regularly, up to 40 lbs frequently, and more than 40 lbs occasionally.
