About the role:
The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC)
is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive to individual patient/family preferences, needs, and values
and ensures that those values guide all decisions. Creating a caring environment for patients and families ensures
continuity of care and fosters a learning environment. Applicants are required to have a demonstrated knowledge,
understanding and commitment to this care philosophy.
Reporting to the Manager of Emergency Services & Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence Treatment Centre, you will
be responsible for providing trauma informed care to acute, nonacute, and follow up care to adult and pediatric
survivors of sexual assault and/or domestic violence (intimate partner violence). Responsibilities of this role include
collection, documentation and reservation of forensic evidence with the potential to appear as an expert witness in
court proceedings. As part of the healthcare team, you will practice within the Standards of the College of Nurses of
Ontario, the philosophy and values of Nursing Services and the policies and procedures of the Hospital.
Applicants must have the following qualifications:
*Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario or the ability to
become licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario
*Current certification in BCLS
*Adult Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE A) certification
*Paediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANEP) certification
*Training in traumainformed care
*Cultural safety training
*Training in safety planning and risk assessment
*NonViolent Crisis Intervention training
Skills/Abilities:
*Recent experience working with adults and children who are victims/survivors of sexual assault and/or domestic
violence.
*Nursing competencies in phlebotomy, forensic photography, pelvic examinations, and pediatric and adult
examinations.
Salary Range: $40.240 to 57.680
The Health Sciences Centre strives to ensure the safety and security of the patients, visitors, employees and assets
financial and otherwise. All offers of employment to external candidates shall be conditional upon: a satisfactory
Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions; and proof of
full vaccinations approved by Health Canada to Occupational Health & Safety. Candidates will have demonstrated
adherence to the Hospital's Code of Conduct. Regular attendance at work is imperative, therefore, all applicants will
have to demonstrate a good attendance record to be considered for this position.
