Role Description The FTTH Foreman is a full-time, on-site role based in Ontario, Canada, responsible for overseeing fiber-to-the-home construction crews and field operations. Daily tasks include planning work schedules, assigning tasks to crew members, coordinating equipment and materials, and ensuring that fiber installation, splicing, and testing activities follow project designs and specifications. The role involves monitoring job progress, enforcing safety protocols, conducting site inspections, and maintaining accurate documentation such as job reports, as-built records, and time sheets. The FTTH Foreman works closely with project managers, clients, and inspectors to resolve field issues, address site conditions, and keep projects on schedule and within quality standards. This position also includes training and mentoring crew members, promoting safe work practices, and supporting continuous improvement in productivity and workmanship.
Qualifications
Experience overseeing FTTH or fiber optic construction projects, including supervision of field crews and coordination of daily work activities. Strong knowledge of fiber installation methods, underground and aerial construction practices, and familiarity with splicing and testing processes. Proven ability to enforce safety procedures, follow applicable regulations and standards, and promote a safety-first culture on job sites. Skills in reading and interpreting construction drawings, utility locates, and project specifications, with attention to detail and quality control. Effective communication and leadership abilities, including task delegation, crew training, and collaboration with project management and clients. Basic proficiency with project documentation tools, job reporting, and use of smartphones or tablets for field data entry. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record suitable for regular travel between work sites in Ontario. Previous experience in telecommunications, civil construction, or related fields; formal technical training or certification in fiber optics or construction supervision is an asset.
