Ashbury College is a leading not-for-profit independent day and boarding school for students in Grades 3 to 12, located in Ottawa, Canada’s capital and the traditional, unceded territory of the Anishinàbe Algonquin Nation. Starting in the 2026–2027 academic year, Ashbury will welcome Grade 3 students into our Junior School. This exciting expansion opens new doors for families and reflects our commitment to nurturing young learners from an early age. As such, Ashbury College is currently seeking a Junior School Teacher responsible for some Grade 3 subjects, including French and Physical Education, Intermediate Math, as well as coaching at various levels.
As the successful candidate, you are an enthusiastic and dedicated educator who thrives in a collaborative and dynamic learning environment. This role requires coaching multiple sports across all seasons and engaging students in a variety of activities that promote physical literacy, resilience, and collaboration. The ideal candidate will also bring a commitment to inclusive and student-centred teaching and coaching. Your teaching practice reflects evidence-based strategies, effective use of technology, and innovative approaches to course design and delivery that foster student engagement and growth. You demonstrate a commitment to inclusive teaching practices that honour the diverse identities, experiences, and learning needs of all students.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor of Education Degree
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification (in good standing),
- A degree or certification in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or Additional Qualifications to teach Physical and Health Education.
- Primary teaching qualifications
- Math as a teachable or qualification
- French as a Second Language (FSL) as a teachable or qualification
- Demonstrated experience coaching or teaching swimming
- National Lifesaving Society (NLS) certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Education or relevant field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching.
- Evidence of teaching that has been enhanced by technology.
- Highly organized, with excellent attention to detail.
- International Baccalaureate experience.
- Demonstrated ability to coach multiple sports at a competitive and/or developmental level.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification.
- Relevant NCCP coaching qualifications.

Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Coach and organize the Junior School swimming program
- Coaching additional teams as assigned by the Junior School Athletic Director
- Organize an after-school co-curricular activity
- 1 after-school duty throughout the school year
- Be involved in the supervision of school trips, including overnight trips
- The sharing of a Form class and the assigned responsibilities
- Daily lunch supervision
