Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee core financial operations, payroll, month-end close, and reporting. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all financial processes while supporting management with meaningful analysis to drive business performance.
This is a hybrid position, with three days in the office and two days working remotely each week. The wage range for this role is $70,000 – $80,000 annually, depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and submit payroll, including payroll reporting and account reconciliations.
- Allocate group benefits, insurance, and fuel expenses in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
- Perform full month-end close activities, including account reconciliations (bank, assets, leases, payroll, prepaid expenses, and intercompany loans).
- Manage tax filings and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including timely WSIB submissions and reconciliations.
- Oversee inventory reconciliation, monthly purchases, and asset depreciation schedules.
- Manage intercompany transactions including sales, expense recharges, and COGS.
- Monitor daily cash flow and oversee sales reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Prepare and analyze weekly and monthly financial reports on sales, profitability, and overdue accounts.
- Maintain internal controls, ensure accurate financial documentation, and support ad hoc reporting and special projects for management.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years of professional accounting experience is required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
- CPA designation in progress or equivalent international CPA strongly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required. Candidates will be required to complete an Excel assessment as part of the hiring process..
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Online is preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and maintaining internal financial controls.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and purchase order processes is considered an asset.
