Job Function

Participate in carrying out pricing assignments and financial evaluations of various business ventures projects and proposals. Assist in the preparation, presentation and monitoring of annual divisional planning reference documents. Develop divisional performance measuring and monitoring systems. Participate in the development, updating, maintenance and distribution of divisional pricing guidelines and all related support procedures and systems. Develop new and revise existing divisional pricing-related programs and methodologies as required or requested. As requested, participate in providing or provide consultation to committees and business venture negotiating terms on pricing or issues related to contract.

Job Description

  1. Participate in carrying out pricing assignments and financial evaluations of various business ventures' projects and proposals involving the marketing of Hydro One's expertise and by-products, as requested by supervisor or other managers. Carry out proposal assessments in accordance with pricing related strategies, policies, procedures, programs and methodologies. Submit major pricing recommendations to supervisor or the appropriate proposal manager for their review and/or implementation. Check pricing proposals prepared by others within the division.

  2. Assist in the preparation, presentation and monitoring of annual divisional planning reference documents. Develop and issue detailed business plan and budget preparation instructions relative to format, procedures and submission deadlines. Provide assistance to divisional managers in the preparation of business portfolio plans, budgets, work program proposals, etc. As requested, attend corporate budget review meetings to assist in the review of divisional submissions. Interact with Corporate Programming, Accounting, Comptroller's and Treasury personnel to establish divisional accounting, audit and business transaction procedures and processes. As requested develop or modify divisional policies and procedures to comply with the introduction of new or changed corporate policies. Liaise with comptrollership staff in line units to resolve issues affecting transaction with New Business Ventures (NBV).

  3. Develop divisional performance measuring and monitoring systems. Assist with the implementation of approved performance measurement systems and monitor divisional performance in comparison with targeted objectives. Coordinate collection of variance explanations and prepare monthly division performance reports.

  4. Participate in the development, updating, maintenance and distribution of divisional pricing guidelines and all related support procedures and systems. Carry out liaison with corporate units to establish forecasts and trends in costs and benefits. As requested provide advice, guidance and assistance to divisional staff to facilitate the preparation of project of proposal pricings and to resolve problems arising in the interpretation and application of pricing-related policies and procedures. As requested assist various corporate line and divisional staff in the comprehension, interpretation and application of pricing processes and procedures by presenting instructional and educational seminar and training sessions.

  5. Develop, implement and maintain divisional information systems to assist in the project pricing and bidding processes to ensure that potential business opportunities are economic and financially sound.

  6. Develop new and revise existing divisional pricing-related programs and methodologies as required or requested. Carry out liaison with external consultants and authorities regarding taxation issues. Review/monitor and investigate existing decisions that have caused problems, due to lack of appropriate policies or ambiguous procedures including, proposals submitted by other line organizations and up-to date economic, accounting and financial theories. Evaluate all aspects and determine the economic benefit and impact of new or revised policies, procedures or processes. Prepare reports and recommendations describing and providing analytical support for new and improved policies, procedures and processes. Submit to supervisor for review and approval. Prepare instructions for using approved new or changed policies and distribute them accordingly.

  7. Assist, as requested, in the preparation of background material for and in the making of, submissions to OEB hearings where business venture planning and pricing matters are an issue.

  8. As requested, participate in providing or provide consultation to committees and business venture negotiating teams, on pricing concerns or issues associated with the establishment of formal agreements to contract out Hydro One services or products. Carry out investigations, obtain data, review and prepare reports regarding type of consultation provided and the outcome of the negotiations.

  9. Perform other duties as required
