Job Summary
Lazer is seeking a Solutions Architect to join our team and play a pivotal role in guiding some of the world’s largest brands through their commerce transformation. As a Solutions Architect, you will act as a consultant at the earliest stages of the sales cycle, helping multi-billion-dollar enterprises evaluate and plan their move onto Shopify from legacy platforms like Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Adobe Commerce, or BigCommerce.
You will work directly with client executives, technical stakeholders, and Lazer’s delivery teams to map out enterprise architectures, extract requirements, and codify future-state solutions on Shopify. Your ability to understand complex commerce ecosystems and translate them into accurate scopes of work will directly impact client success and Lazer’s ability to deliver excellence.
This is a highly client-facing role for someone who thrives at the intersection of consulting, commerce technology, and enterprise architecture.
The Role
As a Solutions Architect, you will:
- Own discovery and solutioning: Lead discovery workshops with client executives and technical teams to deeply understand their current enterprise architecture, business processes, and pain points.
- Architect the future state: Define what their ecosystem will look like on Shopify (e.g. commerce, checkout, headless, POS, OMS, ERP, WMS, CRM, CDP, analytics, personalization, etc.).
- Design migrations: Scope complex replatforming projects from Salesforce, Adobe, or BigCommerce onto Shopify, including data, integrations, and customizations.
- Integration leadership: Architect ERP (e.g. NetSuite), OMS/WMS (e.g. Manhattan), and CMS (e.g. Sanity, Contentful) integrations, leveraging iPaaS tools where needed.
- Document and codify: Produce clear technical architectures, solution diagrams, and statements of work to guide Lazer’s engineering teams.
- Bridge sales and delivery: Partner with business development and client partner teams to create compelling solution proposals and ensure smooth handoff into delivery.
- Stay Shopify-first: Maintain deep knowledge of Shopify’s ecosystem (markets, checkout extensibility, functions, APIs, analytics, etc.) and apply that expertise to client contexts.
- Consult with confidence: Advise enterprise stakeholders on trade-offs, risks, and best practices when adopting Shopify.
Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who brings a blend of consulting acumen, technical expertise, and enterprise commerce experience:
- Deep understanding of enterprise commerce platforms: Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce, and Shopify.
- Enterprise architecture experience: Skilled at mapping and redesigning large-scale digital commerce ecosystems.
- Integration expertise: Familiarity with ERP, OMS, WMS, CMS, CDPs, and iPaaS platforms.
- Consulting mindset: Ability to extract requirements, ask the right questions, and translate ambiguous client input into a clear, structured scope.
- Communication skills: Comfortable working with both client executives (CIO, CTO, CDO) and technical teams; excellent written and verbal communication.
- Solution design: Capable of producing high-quality architecture diagrams, scopes of work, and solution blueprints.
- Client-facing presence: Confident in early-stage sales conversations, discovery sessions, and technical presentations.
- Continuous learner: Keeps up to date on Shopify’s evolving ecosystem and broader commerce technology trends.
Why Work With Us
- Accelerate Your Growth: Work across multiple industries and cutting-edge projects with a team that ships fast.
- Maximum Impact: Shape the future of the tech industry by helping ambitious projects reach their potential.
- True Ownership: Everyone ships code and has real autonomy with minimal meetings.
- Continuous Learning: Be part of a team of senior engineers and designers who love learning and knowledge sharing.
Why This Might Not Be For You
- You Resist Modern Tools: We leverage AI and cutting-edge technology to build rapidly and focus our energy on solving the most complex, high-impact challenges for our clients.
- You Crave High Structure: We thrive in an autonomous, fast-moving environment, which means you need to be comfortable with some ambiguity.
- You Prefer Conventional Careers: Our consulting approach involves varied projects and direct client interaction — it's not for everyone.
- You Like Staying in One Lane: Our projects require adapting to different tech stacks and modern tooling quickly.
Benefits & Perks
- Work From Anywhere: Choose your workspace — all you need is strong wifi and a passion for building!
- Work / Life Balance: We believe in our team’s ability to have it all; a great career, and time to unplug and live…you know...life.
- Employee Care: We provide full benefits (healthcare, dental, vision) for our employees (401k for our US employees)
- Unlimited PTO: Everyone needs a break. Take at least 15 days off a year, and more if you need—just be cool about it and keep the team in mind.
- Regular Team Retreat: Join us for a week of team bonding at amazing destinations. Recent trips include the Dominican Republic, Cancun, and Hawaii — plus ones welcome.
