Valley Fiber was founded in 2016 in Winkler, Manitoba, with the mission of providing reliable and affordable connectivity to traditionally underserved Canadian rural communities. Over the past 10 years, the company has grown steadily to serve over 175 communities with plans to surpass 200 by the end of this year. Employing over 300 employees, Valley Fiber is dedicated to delivering fiber-optic internet to underserved Manitoban communities. In 2020, the company was acquired by DIF Capital Partners, a leading global independent infrastructure fund manager with over $200 billion in assets under management. In partnership with the original founder, Hank Wall, this transaction has enabled Valley Fiber to grow significantly through additional investment into its infrastructure and organization. In 2023, DIF made additional investments into RFNOW, another rural fiber network provider in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. With complementary networks and a client base, the combined entities provide connectivity to over 300 communities with over 500 employees.
With $500m already invested and another $500m planned, the two companies are now being positioned for exponential growth in the coming years. As a result, the new position of Head of Commercial has been created. Reporting to the CEO for both Valley Fiber Ltd. and RFNOW, the Head of Commercial will be responsible for driving the strategic direction, growth, and profitability of the commercial business segment. This segment includes Small and Medium Business (SMB), Private, Public, and Wholesale markets, each requiring tailored strategies and execution plans. This is a highly strategic and entrepreneurial opportunity as the Commercial market is currently underserved, and a significant opportunity exists for a Head of Commercial who can develop and execute on a growth strategy for the business.
The ideal candidate is a growth-oriented executive who brings proven leadership experience in commercial sales, business development or P&L leadership in a dynamic B2B business such as telecommunications, technology or financial services. In this capacity, they will have demonstrated success leading large-scale business segments and delivering market growth, sustained revenue and profit growth. Established relationships in Manitoba and/or Saskatchewan, are required. Highly strategic, disciplined and focused, the Head of Commercial will combine a strong analytical mindset and data-driven decision making with exceptional relationship building and inspirational and visionary leadership to a growing team.
