The Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) provides the residents of the Northwest Territories with access to quality programs, services and support to assist them in making informed and productive choices for themselves and their families with regard to education, training, careers, employment and labour, child development, languages, culture and heritage.
##Job Information
The Career Development Navigator leads the coordination, delivery, and continuous improvement of Labour Market, Career, and Employment Development programs and services for residents across the Region. In this role, the Navigator ensures programs are responsive, high-quality, and cost-effective, while helping connect people to meaningful employment and career opportunities.
As a key representative of the department, the Career Development Navigator also supports delivery of the Apprenticeship, Trade and Occupation Certification (ATOC) program within the region. This includes working closely with apprentices, journeypersons, and employers to support implementation of the Apprenticeship, Trade and Occupation Certification Act, Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Regulations, and certification standards. The role requires staying attuned to evolving labour market demands and policy changes, and adapting services in real time to meet regional needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver general program services, including administration of program funds.
- Apprenticeship Program delivery.
- Provide group and individual career and employment case management to individuals facing labour-market barriers, from intake through retention.
- Promote and support community and employer engagement.
- Responsible for individual work planning and reporting within the units overall operations, and contributing to the development of territorial tools and resources.
Key Qualifications:
- A relevant post-secondary Diploma or Journey Certification and two (2) years of related experience.
