About the role:

We are looking for a dynamic and strategic Legal and Recoveries Manager to lead our legal recovery operations with a focus on maximizing charged-off debt recovery while developing a high-performing team. This role blends legal expertise with operational leadership and plays a critical part in driving results, shaping litigation strategy, and building internal capabilities to support long-term organizational success.

Strategic Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Paralegals and legal recovery professionals to deliver legal recovery services.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and performance excellence aligned with organizational values.
  • Identify skill gaps and implement training, mentoring, and professional development initiatives to build internal legal and recovery expertise.

Legal Recovery Oversight

  • Design and execute recovery strategies that balance legal risk, cost, and return on investment.
  • Oversee the end-to-end litigation process for active and charged-off accounts, ensuring legal actions are timely, effective, and compliant.
  • Set and monitor KPIs for recovery performance, case cycle times, and vendor efficiency.

Risk Management & Legal Governance

  • Provide strategic direction on legal recovery actions while ensuring adherence to all regulatory, legal, and ethical standards.
  • Assess case-level and portfolio-level exposure to inform risk-based decision-making and litigation prioritization.
  • Maintain integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in all legal and business practices.

External Partner Management

  • Manage relationships with a network of legal vendors, counsel, and process servers to support litigation and recovery across various jurisdictions.
  • Monitor external partner performance and ensure alignment with recovery goals, quality standards, and service level expectations.

Operational Excellence

  • Continuously refine internal workflows, documentation standards, and legal processes to increase efficiency, consistency, and success rates.
  • Leverage reporting and analytics to track team performance, recovery outcomes, and to identify areas for process optimization.

What we’re looking for:

  • Licensed Paralegal in good standing with a recognized legal regulatory authority.
  • Degree or diploma in Paralegal Studies, Legal Administration, Law, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in legal recoveries, collections litigation, or financial services law.
  • Proven leadership experience, with demonstrated success in managing, mentoring, and developing legal or operations teams.
  • Strong understanding of debt recovery, civil litigation processes, and enforcement strategies.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate legal complexity into actionable business decisions.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Highly organized, analytical, and results-driven with a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities and stakeholders.

What you can expect - pay & process:

  • Expected base salary range is $80,000 - $90,000 , plus the opportunity to earn an annual incentive bonus tied to performance.
