About the role
Job Description We are seeking a skilled and motivated Belt Scale / Weigh Scale Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will install, calibrate, maintain, and repair a wide range of industrial weighing systems including conveyor belt scales and various industrial weigh scales used across industries such as mining, aggregates, construction, fishing, and oil & gas.
Your work ensures accuracy, safety, and reliability for our customers' operations, from routine zero checks to complex material comparison calibrations. This is a hands-on, technical position ideal for someone with strong mechanical and electrical abilities who enjoys problem-solving in industrial environments.
Responsibilities Belt Scale Technician Duties
- Install new belt scales and perform conveyor structure analysis.
- Conduct zero calibrations (empty belt) and material comparison calibrations using certified test methods.
- Inspect belts, rollers, motors, and perform alignment or cleaning as required.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues to maintain weighing accuracy.
- Ensure equipment meets all legal-for-trade requirements and regulatory standards.
Weigh Scale Technician Duties
- Install, maintain, and repair industrial and retail scales at customer sites across the Maritimes.
- Provide customers with guidance on proper equipment operation and basic maintenance.
- Respond to emergency repair calls in a calm and efficient manner.
- Analyze equipment issues and perform field corrections.
- Produce accurate service reports and calibration certificates.
Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or post-secondary program in electrical or mechanical fields preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years in a related mechanical/electrical role; experience with industrial or retail scale repair is an asset.
- Ability to lift and perform physical work in industrial environments.
- Familiarity with computer-based scale systems.
- Proficient with Microsoft programs; strong organizational and communication skills.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license, Class 3 license an asset.
- Ability to travel for onsite service calls and contracts.
