Summary

The administrative assistant provides critical office support and assists the Office of Communication with the mission of building public understanding, trust and support for schools in the Davis School District. The administrative assistant will provide support related to the public relations, marketing, social media, website design, news posts and branding supports for schools and the district.

Description

Classified position is announced to all qualified personnel. Applications must be submitted no later than Tuesday, June 30, 2026. Administrative Assistant: 8.0 hours per day / 12 months per year / Salary Grade 10 - $24.30 per hour (Support Salary Table 2026 - 2027) [Promotions result in a 5% minimum increase] ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assists in a variety of areas including staff organization, scheduling and managing. story ideas, project management, event planning and answering phones. Supports the staff with any of the following: writing articles for newsletters, crafting slide deck presentations, updating district directories, generating and managing weekly media story lists and other communication related tasks as needed. Provides support for layout and design on webpages, newsletters, brochures, flyers, directories and other public relations materials. Organizes and maintains office supplies and all office paper and digital filing systems. Manages department budgets and reconciles budgets on monthly basis. Interacts positively and professionally with district-level office employees, school principals, media representatives and the public to build positive understanding and support of schools and the district. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS High school graduation or equivalent education / experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Proficient and experienced in use of Adobe products, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Photoshop, etc. Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational, written and oral communication skills. Ability to collect and understand information, formulate conclusions and seek clarification for project completion. An eye for creative design with ability to produce informative and appropriately branded content. Skilled at meeting deadlines, coordinating and scheduling calendars and appointments. Adept at working under pressure and time constraints. Ability to maintain confidentiality and establish and sustain effective working relationships with department and district staff. Ability to manage and reconcile department budgets. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, journalism, advertising, art, marketing or a related field. Experienced with the process and work of public relations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. The work also requires the following physical abilities to perform the essential job functions: balancing, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, mental acuity, reaching, speaking, talking, visual acuity and walking.
