About the role

Reporting to the President & CEO, the General Manager, Operations, will lead and optimize all aspects of homebuilding operations, applying both construction expertise and proven manufacturing methodologies. This senior leadership role will ensure efficient processes, high-quality service delivery, financial performance, and compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate is a strong operations leader with a background in process-driven, production environments who can bring best practices in efficiency and quality to the residential construction process.

The General Manager, will oversee strategic planning and execution for internal operations of Trico Homes, this will include but is not limited to estimating, drafting, design selection and construction of: townhomes, side by side and single family homes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership

  • In conjunction with the President & CEO, develop and implement the operational strategy for Trico Homes in alignment with corporate goals.
  • Integrate manufacturing-based operational excellence methodologies into the homebuilding process.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to, budget, forecast, set KPIs, and drive continuous improvement.

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee all stages of home construction, from design to customer handover while ensuring high productivity and service quality.
  • Oversee resource allocation, workforce planning, and vendor management.
  • Monitor performance against schedules, budgets, and quality metrics, and reporting.

Process Optimization & Technology

  • Standardize and document best practices for consistent execution across multiple projects within the areas that Trico operates.
  • Leverage technology and automation tools to streamline workflows and enhance customer experience.

Estimating & Vendor Management

  • Oversee estimating and procurement, supplier relationships, and subcontractor performance to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Lead the team in negotiating contracts and maintain cost control without sacrificing quality.

Financial Management

  • Oversee operational budgets, cost forecasting, and margin performance.
  • Partner with Finance teams to analyze performance data and improve profitability.
  • Optimize revenue operations, expense management, and resources utilization.

Compliance, Safety & Quality

  • Ensure compliance with building codes, environmental regulations, and occupational safety standards.
  • Establish rigorous quality control protocols at every stage of production.
  • Maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies, industry partners, and associations.
  • Foster a culture of safety and accountability.

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Lead and develop a high-performing operations team, blending construction expertise with process improvement skills.

  • Build a culture that embraces innovation, collaboration, and operational discipline.

  • Provide coaching, succession planning, and leadership development.

QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field.
  • 10+ years of senior operational leadership in high-volume, process-driven industries—experience in residential construction, manufacturing, or a combination is ideal.
  • Demonstrated success in applying manufacturing process improvement techniques to operations.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment with changing priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong strategic thinking and execution abilities.
  • Financial acumen with data-driven decision-making.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Proven track record in workflow optimization, cycle-time reduction, and quality improvement.
