Title: Logistics Specialist - Readiness, Domestic Emergency Response Unit

Employee Working Location: Partially Virtual / Hybrid (Canada)

Employment Status: Temporary - Full-Time (12 months)

In this role, you will

Lead or support procurement and sourcing activities for goods and services in accordance with industry and organizational guidelines, including requirements definition, solicitation, bid/tender support, evaluation, negotiation support, purchase execution, and documentation. Develop and maintain effective supplier and vendor relationships, including contract administration, performance monitoring, issue resolution, and close-out activities. Coordinate with the Readiness Manager and suppliers to resolve quality control issues with products as needed. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to translate operational needs into specifications, statements of work, and supply strategies that balance cost, quality, timeliness, and compliance. Support inventory information management within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software and other databases. Provide operational and technical guidance to colleagues, project teams, and internal clients on logistics processes, service options, and issue escalation pathways. Support quality, compliance, and documentation requirements for regulated, specialized, or high-risk items as applicable to the scope of operations (e.g., inspection support, traceability, recall/return processes, and records management). Identify opportunities for process and service improvements (e.g., reducing obsolete materials, improving lead times, strengthening data quality), contributing to continuous improvement and reporting. Promote, support and ensure compliance with government regulations, organizational policies and procedures, including safety, risk management, and operational readiness requirements.

What we are looking for

Qualifications include a minimum of 4-7 years of experience and a 3-year college diploma or university degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, international relations, or a related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. May require technical certifications or professional designations and the ability to adapt knowledge and practices to varying situations or equipment. Proficiency in standard computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite) and specifically Excel worksheets and SharePoint. Understanding the entire supply chain process, including procurement, inventory management, transportation, and distribution. Ability to project manage such as, planning, organizing, and coordinating project activities, setting goals, managing timelines, and allocating resources effectively. Ability to identify, investigate and analyze problems, identify root causes and risks, and apply technical, functional and organizational knowledge to develop solutions. Communication skills, diplomacy and empathy to interpret information and deliver advice, clarify client or stakeholder needs, offer solutions, and resolve escalations in new or somewhat sensitive situations. Experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, and distribution logistics. Knowledge of domestic and international shipping regulations, import/export compliance, and customs procedures.
