The Role
Pason is seeking an Electrical and Automation Intern for a 16-month internship from May 2026 until August 2027. Through electrical hardware and software design, students will create solutions to automate test sequences for new and existing products. The student will interface with test engineering, design, manufacturing and contract manufacturers in Calgary. Some amount of site visits to our contract manufactures will be required to aid with implementation and troubleshooting. This position is very similar to a junior engineering position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design automated test software in LabVIEW that will conclusively prove that products meet the established standards for Pason equipment
- Hardware design consisting of system level requirements, schematic capture, and PCB layout
- Define product testability requirements and drive implementation in conjunction with product design
- Procurement and assembly of test fixtures
- Work with contract manufacturers to define, deploy, and troubleshoot test processes
- Investigate recurring problems with equipment and work with R&D staff to identify root cause of problems
- Provide support to engineers from the Hardware and Test Engineering team
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong commitment to quality and attention to detail
- Electrical design skills, including analog and digital circuits
- Confident with software development
- Electrical hardware knowledge from component to system level
- Ability to work well in a team and individually
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with Altium Designer (or equivalent PCB design software) an asset
- Experience with lab equipment and tools (Oscilloscopes, multimeters, soldering)
- Driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required
Education
- Currently enrolled in 3rd year studies in Electrical or Computer Engineering
