Calgary Housing (CH) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the City of Calgary. CH is a purpose-driven social enterprise and the largest housing operator in Calgary, providing safe and affordable housing to more than 27,000 Calgarians. As a Major Projects Coordinator, you will be an instrumental leader and change champion to help us reach our ambitious vision to be the best - for our residents, our employees, and our city. Primary duties include:

  • Define, obtain and allocate resources to ensure there are appropriate resources to complete assigned project work.
  • Manage construction expenditures and provide direction to staff to meet budget objectives.
  • Oversee and coordinate many concurrent projects consisting of design, tendering, construction and commissioning of major capital projects while ensuring compliance with legislative, procurement, code, and bylaw requirements.
  • Engage consulting and professional services to ensure adherence to applicable legislative requirements and make certain that it is integrated into the project scope.
  • Provide instruction, guidance, support, and mentorship to direct reports.
  • Identify, develop, and implement policy, processes, planning, performance standards and expectations to ensure consistency across the project portfolio.
  • Develop, implement and ensure adherence to CH policy and procedures as required for the team to achieve corporate goals and objectives.
  • Participate in CH inter-divisional meetings and external partner meetings as required.

Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng. Designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work Click here for more details.
  • Experience related to building maintenance, design and project management is required.
  • Previous experience managing a team of direct reports is required.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) and the use of a personal vehicle for work.
  • Completed project management training and/or certification and experience in residential construction will be considered assets.
  • Success in this position requires strong communication and relationship building skills, political acumen, leadership skills along with the ability to negotiate and advocate.

Compensation: Engineer P3E $113,200 - 141,500 per annum

Days of Work: This position works a 5 day

work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
