About the role

Functions: To stack packaged Buns onto Pallets, Skids, carts or in Trailer. To cull out any substandard buns at the culling table. To wash trays. Manage and tidy the bun packaging area. Working in different formations when working on either the Sandviks or the UBE Bagger. Rotate between Technician #1, #2, #3, and #4 every hour to avoid strain.

General Duties And Responsibilities: Sandvik Technician #1 – Culling

  • Cull any substandard buns from the culling table and place them in a waste bin
  • Ensure all lanes on the culling table are equal to prevent pressure
  • Adhere strictly to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) outlined for working in a food processing plant.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures
  • Notify Bun Bagger operator of any Product loss, QA issues, or mechanical problems.
  • Set up the packaging area for the next product run during change-over (set up trays, clean)
  • Complete any rewrap during production stops and changeovers
  • Assist in general cleaning of machinery and plant facility as assigned when production is stopped.
  • Work as a team and cooperate with your fellow team members at all times.
  • Take instruction from the Bun Bagger Operator

Sandvik Technician #2/3 - Stacking

  • Stack properly packaged Buns onto Pallets, Skids, carts or Trailers
  • Complete any rewrap during production stops and changeovers
  • Set up the packaging area for the next product run during change-over (set up trays, clean)
  • Assist with bringing trays to Tray washer and Stacker area during production or when needed.
  • Adhere strictly to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) outlined for working in a food processing plant
  • Assist in general cleaning of machinery and plant facility as assigned when production is stopped.
  • If both Sandvik’s are down then you are immediately to go to the oven area and assist with racking off pans that exit the oven, until Cooler system has started back up again.
  • Work as a team and cooperate with your fellow team members at all times.
  • Verify proper sealing of pillows on a regular basis.
  • Verify DATE code imprint is on and legible.
  • Ensure each pillow of product is the right amount and within specifications.
  • Ensure each pillow is sealed properly
  • Communicate with Operator as soon as any packaging defects are noticed
  • Take instruction from the Bun Bagger Operator and the Trailer Loader.

Sandvik Technician #4 – Tray Washer

  • Ensure the Tray Washing Machine is set up properly
  • Clean the filters inside the tray washer as necessary.
  • Ensure using the correct trays for the product being run.
  • Properly load trays into the tray washer.
  • Ensure Tray conveyors are taking the trays to the correct Sandvik in use.
  • Complete any rewrap during production stops and changeovers
  • Set up the packaging area for the next product run during change-over (set up trays, clean)
  • Assist with bringing trays to Tray washer and Stacker area during production or when needed.
  • Adhere strictly to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) outlined for working in a food processing plant
  • Assist in general cleaning of machinery and plant facility as assigned when production is stopped.
  • If both Sandviks are down then you are immediately to go to the oven area and assist with racking off pans that exit the oven, until Cooler system has started back up again.
  • Work as a team and cooperate with your fellow team members at all time.
  • Take instruction from the Bagger Operator.

UBE Bagger Technician #1 – Culling

  • Cull any substandard buns from the culling table and place them in a waste bin

  • Help to set up the box machine if required
  • As completed packages come out of the UBE Bagger check the packaging and kwik lok to ensure everything is correct at the start of each new product run or order.
  • Place the correct amount of packages into the correct tray or box.
  • Pass the tray to the stacker, or push the box through the box machine.
  • Ensure each bag of product is the right amount and within specifications.
  • Adhere strictly to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) outlined for working in a food processing plant.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures
  • Notify Bun Bagger operator of any Product loss, QA issues, or mechanical problems.
  • Set up the packaging area for the next product run during change-over (set up trays, clean)
  • Complete any rewrap during production stops and changeovers
  • Assist in general cleaning of machinery and plant facility as assigned when production is stopped.
  • Work as a team and cooperate with your fellow team members at all times.

Take instruction from the Bun Bagger Operator

UBE Bagger Technician #3 – Stacker

  • Help to set up box machine if required.

  • Assist with bringing trays during production or when needed.

  • Assist in general cleaning of machinery and plant facility as assigned when production is stopped.
  • If the UBE Bagger is down then you are immediately to go to the oven area and assist with racking off pans that exit the oven, until Cooler system has started back up again.
  • Work as a team and cooperate with your fellow team members at all times.
  • Verify proper packaging on a regular basis.
  • Verify DATE code imprint is on kwik lok clear and legible.
  • Ensure each bag of product is the right amount and within specifications.
  • Communicate with Operator as soon as any packaging defects are noticed

UBE Bagger Technician #4 – Extra

  • Complete any rewrap
  • Assist the take off person with gathering trays/boxes and placing trays/boxes when required.
  • Set up the packaging area for the next product run during change-over (set up trays, clean)
  • Assist with bringing trays to Tray washer and Stacker area during production or when needed.
  • Adhere strictly to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) outlined for working in a food processing plant
  • Assist in general cleaning of machinery and plant facility as assigned when production is stopped.
  • If the UBE Bagger is down then you are immediately to go to the oven area and assist with racking off pans that exit the oven, until Cooler system has started back up again.
  • Work as a team and cooperate with your fellow team members at all time.
  • Take instruction from the Bagger Operator.

Specific Job Requirements

  • Physically able to lift and handle up to 25 kg weights regularly.
  • Physically able to load trailers to the height of the trailer.
