The WRHA is seeking qualified physicians to provide care in one or more of the Urgent Care/Emergency Centers in Winnipeg. These acute care facilities serve diverse ambulatory and inpatient populations that are attached to the facilities of the Victoria, Concordia, Seven Oaks, and Grace Hospitals. These sites provide emergency and urgent care services to a diverse patient population and are equipped with full diagnostic and resuscitation capabilities.

Physicians will work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environments and are expected to manage a range of low to moderate acuity cases, as well as occasional critical care stabilization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, timely care in urgent care and emergency department settings
  • Perform clinical assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for a wide range of conditions
  • Utilize diagnostic tools including phlebotomy, X-ray, CT, and ultrasound
  • Stabilize and resuscitate critically ill patients as required
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Participate in scheduled shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends

Qualifications

  • Eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba

  • Preferred: Certification in Emergency Medicine from either the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP-EM) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC)

  • Proven experience in emergency or urgent care environments

  • In the absence of EM certification, current credentials in:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

  • ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support)

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

  • POCUS (Point-of-Care Ultrasound)

  • Procedural sedation
