The City of Courtenay invites applications for the position of "Group Fitness Instructor 2”.
Fitness Instructors are responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging, and safe programs that meet the needs of participants across a range of ages and abilities.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Relevant certifications in accordance with industry standards (e.g. BCRPA, CanFit-Pro, ACE, NASM etc.).
- OR a current membership in relevant professional organizations (e.g. BCAK, CATA, NSCA et.).
- Emergency First Aid and CPR-C
- Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector
- At least 5 years of continuous experience in a similar position.
- Experience in customer service, recreation, human/social services or in a leadership role is preferred.
- Exceptional leadership abilities
- Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
- Solid knowledge of fitness and strength equipment
- Physical abilities to lift and carry equipment up to 45lbs
- Teamwork and collaboration skills
The current hourly wage is $33.00 + 12.4% in lieu. This is an entry level position with opportunities for growth. Successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends. Hours and shifts are subject to change.
