About the role
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Pharmacy technician/assistant. Work setting: Community or retail pharmacy. Tasks: Ensure the information on prescriptions is accurate. Prepare medications for clients. Supervise and direct activities of other medical technologists or technicians. Take body or limb measurements of patients. Bill third party insurers. Compound oral solutions, ointments and creams. Evaluate labelling, packaging and advertising of drug products. Check prescriptions for proper dosage. Compound prescribed pharmaceutical products by calculating, measuring and mixing the right quantities of drugs and other ingredients. Maintain medication profiles of customers including registry of poisons and narcotic and controlled drugs. Manage the storage, packaging and distribution of medicinal products . Order and maintain stock of pharmaceutical supplies. Supervision: 3-4 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Pharmacy Examining Boards of Canada Certification. Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Immunization records. Eligible for professional liability insurance. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Repetitive tasks. Attention to detail. Fast-paced environment. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Work under pressure.
