YOUR ROLE
Reporting directly to the Manager of Health & Dental Claims, this role is focused on the development of a high performing team to achieve department productivity and quality targets. A commitment that claim issues need to be resolved at the right level within the team, always pursuing opportunities to streamline processes and create efficiencies, address process gaps, and be responsible for regularly coaching and providing feedback to support employees to meet their objectives.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Hiring, developing, coaching, goal setting, performance management
- Facilitating process improvements and efficiencies
- Identifying opportunities for automation and performance- improving system enhancements
- Project work as applicable
YOUR IMPACT
- Develop a team of claims professionals to proficiently process extended health and dental claims and ancillary claims within the claims system and maintain confidentiality of claims information.
- Prepare claims professionals to triage and resolve claims questions from various business units through email and First Call Resolution line.
- Provide team with opportunities for professional development and prepare them for advancement through mentorship. Give particular focus on succession planning for the Specialist role and/or where single point of failure exist.
- Coach team members to achieve individual performance objectives.
- Develop and execute on action plans to address issues identified by internal and external audit of claims adjudication practices. Act as Audit point person.
- Select candidates to hire and promote. Present termination recommendations when performance objectives or core competencies are not being met by employees, following a performance improvement process.
- Assist Specialists to triage complex claim and plan set-up issues. Resolve escalated claim issues and act as a consultant to assist internal business partners to resolve plan set up issues. Temper the involvement of resources to resolve non-claim issues.
- Identify the knowledge and skillsets required for each role. Continually identify training and process documentation gaps. Partner with internal Auditor and L&D Specialist to develop training and resources to support the requirements of each role.
- Identify and propose changes to streamline processes and create efficiencies as demonstrated by improved metrics. Propose MPACS enhancements to increase productivity or percentage of “No Touch” claims.
- Monitor and adjust the day-to-day operation of the claim system’s “workflow” rules with objective to maintain service levels and claims turnaround time of 2-2.25 days.
- Adhere to claims retention policy and shred/delete any documents that meet destruction criteria. Comply with privacy and security policies.
THIS IS YOU
- You have extensive knowledge of the group benefits industry and hands-on experience, particularly with medical and dental claims.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving business environment
- Extensive knowledge of insurance-related policies and legislations
- Aptitude for leading and coaching others
- Excellent conflict resolution and customer service skills
- Able to multitask and prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines
- Strong written communication and interpersonal skills

YOUR COMPENSATION
At the time of this posting, the estimated annual base salary pay range for this position is $72,000-$74,000. Individual compensation within this range is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, and education/training. This range reflects the annual base salary only and does not encompass our comprehensive total rewards, benefits, and potential bonuses that we proudly offer.
