About the role

Royal Roads University is seeking an experienced Librarian to join our university community as Librarian, Business Information & Data Services.

This role is one of three academic Librarians who support Royal Roads University’s academic mission, aligned with our Learning, Teaching and Research Model and serving the objectives of the Academic Strategic Plan. The Librarian will be a subject matter expert for business-related programs, as well as providing cross-institutional advising on data literacy and data research management. To support RRU’s commitment to applied, interdisciplinary education, this position may also provide subject matter expertise to programs outside the School of Leadership & Management. It is expected that this role will be filled at the rank of Librarian II.

The successful candidate will have experience delivering academic research data services, with strong working knowledge of research data management, international, national and provincial research data issues and principles, and proven success in providing research data support.

As part of a small team, this position will also provide and assess information literacy instruction, provide customized reference services, develop learning and support materials, and conduct outreach to students and faculty. Projects or initiatives to advance the work of the library or related academic services may also be undertaken. The successful candidate will foster an environment of collegiality, working closely with Library colleagues to establish, assess, and continually improve services, and to share knowledge and expertise.

As a member of the Royal Roads University Faculty Association (RRUFA), appropriate participation and involvement in scholarship and service is expected, as defined in the current Collective Agreement.

A second master’s degree is preferred.
