About the role

The Field Equipment Coordinator is a highly organized and proactive individual who is supports MEMS’ environmental science teams prepare for field work. This role is important to the success of projects, ensuring that field equipment is maintained, calibrated, tracked and deployed on time. The Field Equipment Coordinator facilitates other logistics including equipment rentals, delivery and warehouse organization. This 100% onsite position is based in Sherwood Park, Alberta.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and source equipment and vehicles required to undertake a variety of projects
  • Provide safety and field equipment to MEMS offices in Sherwood Park, Calgary, Grande Prairie, Saskatoon and remote locations
  • Ensure the consistent maintenance and tracking of inventory
  • Responsible for lockout/tag out of any equipment or vehicles that are not in safe or suitable working order
  • Arrange field equipment maintenance, calibration, repair or replacement
  • Inspect equipment as per MEMS Policies and Procedures
  • Coordinate and schedule maintenance of MEMS owned equipment as required
  • Able to travel approximately 10% of the time
  • Provide logistical support where needed and working longer hours or on weekends
  • other duties as assigned

Education And Experience

  • Completion of High School
  • Possess a valid, non-GDL Class 5 Drivers license
  • Experience with the maintenance, inspection and sourcing of equipment required for various environmental assessment related activities is an asset.

  • Able to multi-task, establish priorities, work well under pressure and tight deadlines both individually and in a team environment
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new technology and skills
  • Basic computer knowledge and an understanding of record keeping
  • Awareness or training in WHMIS, TDG and OH&S

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment that requires sitting for extended periods of time
  • Prolonged exposure to computer keyboards and computer screens
  • Manual dexterity required to use laptop and peripherals
  • Sometimes requires long hours of work
  • Required to walk, stand, climb, bend forward, kneel down, crawl, reach and grasp, push and pull objects, lift and/or move up to 30 kg, sometimes over the shoulders, repetitive bending and lifting of items, along with repetitive arm movements
  • some travel to other MEMS offices may be required on occasion
