We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to manage high-volume weekly payroll in an industrial construction environment
Agilus is recruiting for a Payroll Specialist in the construction sector in Calgary, Alberta. The successful candidate will bring 5–8 years of payroll experience post-designation, hands-on expertise processing large employee populations

Responsibilities
- Process payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
- Prepare and issue Records of Employment (ROEs) as required.
- Validate timesheets, imports, and job cost allocations; reconcile hours, premiums, shift differentials, banked overtime, and allowances.
- Ensure accurate calculation and remittance of statutory deduction
- Review and post payroll journals; reconcile payroll accounts to GL; support month-end/quarter-end close.
- Manage high-volume of hiring and terminations activities
- Ensure compliance with federal/provincial legislation, collective agreements, company policies, and audit requirements.
- Generate payroll reports (gross-to-net, variance, accruals, headcount, costing) for Finance, HR, and Operations.
Must Have
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5 to 8 years of payroll experience post-designation (Canadian payroll).
- Experience running high-volume weekly payrolls in industrial field.
- PCP designation
- Working experience with Viewpoint Vista software and excellent MS Office (Excel) skills
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
- Detail - oriented, time management and organizational skills
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
