The Opportunity
We are currently seeking aMine Operator 2–Excavator & Loader Operatorto join ourSurface Operationsteam in Voisey’s Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation.
The role is a permanent on-site position**,**on a two week on, two week off rotation.
As aMine Operator 2–Excavator & Loader Operatoryou will participate in Excavator or Loader Operator activities within the open pit mine and to operate other mine heavy equipment when required. Your experience and skills will assist in activities around the pit including moving and installing dewatering pumps, loading haul trucks, maintaining waste dumps, and feeding mobile crushers.
Additionally, in this position, you will:
- Operate heavy equipment to deepen waterways or cover each fill.
- Operate a variety of heavy equipment safely via hand signals, radio communication and using occupant safety devices.
- Perform pre-operational checks of equipment as well as basic maintenance on track or rubber tire undercarriage, buckets, and attachments; lubricate equipment components and attachments.
- Complete and maintain equipment log sheets and reports.
- Work cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers.
- Provide fundamental knowledge on soil characteristics, map reading, and ground conditions.
- Build roads at surface mining sites.
- Comply with work safety policies and safety regulations such as OH&S, Natural Gas regulations, weights and dimensions, carriage of goods, Highway Traffic Act, and WHMIS.

About You
Education:
- Completed a minimum of Grade 10 secondary school or equivalent is required.
Experience:
- Candidates must have previous experience operating a CAT 349 Excavator, CAT 777 Haul Truck, and D9/D10 Dozers.
- Candidates must also have one of the following:
- 1000 hours operating the 16 H Grader;
- 1000 hours operating mobile crushers including the Jaw crusher, cone crusher, and screeners.
- Minimum of 6 months of operating experience in an industrial mine setting.
- Hold or be able to obtain a valid site driver’s license.
- Preference will be given to operators with experience in finish work, such as grading, sloping, trenching, etc.
Skills:
- Demonstrate a strong concern for Safety, Health and Environment;
- Strong ability to work cooperatively within a team;
- Demonstrate initiative and ability to work independently.
