The Intermediate Cloud Platform Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining cloud infrastructure solutions that support business applications and enterprise platform services. This role plays a critical part in streamlining operations, enabling automation, and driving continuous improvement across our cloud environments. You will help implement scalable architecture, ensure the security and availability of cloud systems, and contribute to ongoing cloud modernization initiatives. Position Responsibilities: Design, build, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure supporting enterprise applications and services. Develop innovative, cloud-centric solutions and document platform designs, ensuring optimized performance, security alignment, and operational readiness. Maintain a highly available server and infrastructure environment, including OS updates, configuration management, and system tuning. Troubleshoot and resolve complex or escalated technical issues within cloud platforms. Plan, conduct, and evaluate tests for IaaS cloud systems to ensure reliability and performance. Perform ongoing performance tuning, capacity management, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization for cloud infrastructure. Support the implementation and maintenance of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices. Contribute to automation initiatives that improve efficiency for infrastructure provisioning, monitoring, and operational tasks. Office Location: Waterloo - Canada or Toronto - Canada or Boston - USA Work arrangement: Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days from Home; Working remotely option is not available. Required Qualifications At lease 3 - 6 years IT industry experience Minimum 2+ years of professional experience in a production environment in a similar role. Understanding of server infrastructure, virtualization, and cloud computing principles. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure IaaS and Azure Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Solid grasp of cloud networking concepts and infrastructure components. Experience with Windows Server operating systems and advanced troubleshooting. Hands-on experience automating infrastructure provisioning, DevOps practices, and/or CI/CD pipelines. Understanding of IT security principles and public cloud security controls. Experience writing code or scripts to automate monitoring, operations, or data analysis. Demonstrated ability to design, build, and deploy scalable cloud solution architectures. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience. Experience with cloud computing and cloud service models (IaaS, PaaS) is desired Hands-on knowledge of automation, Infrastructure as Code, and configuration management tools. Background in networking and security concepts. Experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM). Knowledge of networking infrastructure components. Familiarity with API gateways and cloud-based architectural patterns. System administration experience across Windows or Linux environments. Proficiency in scripting or programming languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python). Experience with containers and container orchestration technologies.
